Trips

Experiential learning has been at the core of my educational philosophy ever since I took a NOLS course in 2007. I have done my best to provide that to my students, whether in the classroom or in the backcountry. Before I return to a more consistent teaching position, my goal is to design experiences that I can learn from. In the summer of 2015, my dad and I explored the public lands and rights of way in England along the Coast to Coast path. From the fall of 2015 into the spring of 2016, I studied America's relationship with wilderness and conservation by visiting our National Parks and other public lands. In 2017, I will spend the five months tramping through New Zealand, learning about that island nation and its relationship to its wondrous landscapes. View those ongoing, and past, projects here.
